Background

Organ donation is the gift of an organ to a person with end stage organ disease and who needs transplant for therapeutic purpose.

As per WHO global road safety report 2015 India accounts for more than 200,000 deaths because of road accidents. In 40-50% of these fatal road accidents, the cause of death is head injury, leaving the victim a potential organ donor. NOTTO (National Organ & Tissue Transplants Organization, India), estimates that every year about 200000 kidneys, 80000 Liver, 50000 heart & 100000 cornea are required.

In addition to the above there is requirement for pancreas and lung transplants. What needs to be emphasized is that even if 10% of road traffic accident deceased patients become organ donors, it can lead to a situation where there is practically no requirement for a living person to donate an organ.

There have been sporadic successes throughout India, as far as deceased organ donation is concerned. However, in central India, particularly in the state of Madhya Pradesh, there was no concrete & streamlined mechanism operational pertaining to organ donation, therefore the need for a concerted effort was felt. To fill this vacuum we have created this society & got it registered. This society is headed by Divisional Commissioner, Indore with its other member being ADG police Indore, Collector Indore, JD health as ex office members. To encourage donations we have applied exemption under section 80G & 35 AC of IT act and have received the same. Now we are launching this website to further facilitate the cause of organ donation.

This website shall work as a platform to bring all stakeholders at the same place. The site has the facility for registration of hospitals, doctors, NGO’s besides the donors & recipients. The site maintains the wait list of recipient with the facility of match making between donors & recipients. We shall strive to promote and minimize the myth surrounding the body and organ donations. Besides above facilities the site has the FAQ, availability of laws and rules pertaining to organ donations & provides links to NOTTO also.

We are working to create eco system to make Heart & Liver transplant a reality in Indore. We sincerely hope that this mission will soon bring a revolutionary change in the outlook of society and would further spread happiness in the life of many people.

Objective

To contribute to the improvement of health and the prevention of disease.

To make available the platform disseminate information to its members, NGOs, hospitals, patients, donors, recipient citizens at large about the latest development in this field.

To recruit, train and develop volunteer/ personnel as necessary for undertaking promotion facilitation of human organ donations from deceased for saving life

To serve the community within its jurisdiction, particularly for organs donations, body donations for health from deceased persons and to identify local needs and set priorities.

To ensure correct use of the society emblem, to maintain its protective value.

To coordinate between individuals, companies, institutions, NGOs recipient organizations to maximize organ tissue donations due to brain and accidental death.

To collect donations for providing insurance coverage to donors.

To collaborate with national registry for organ tissue donations other similar organizations/ societies for popularizing the organ tissue donations from deceased.
